Dali Indian Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Dali Indian Restaurant, nestled on a quiet stretch of Kerk Avenue in Ferndale, you immediately sense a welcoming pause from the bustle of Randburg. It’s a modest corner where the pace slows, inviting you to linger in the subtle hum of conversation and the comforting warmth of familiar aromas. The atmosphere is unpretentious yet attentive—the kind of place where locals and newcomers alike find a quiet moment of ease before their food arrives.
The rhythm here is thoughtful rather than hurried, echoing the care that goes into every dish served. You might come seeking the gentle spice and deep, slow-cooked richness of a classic curry, or the signature experience of a well-made bunny chow—a specialty that connects diners to the heart of Durban’s vibrant culinary storytelling, right here in Gauteng. Meals are not just about satisfying hunger but about reconnecting with a tradition, with flavors that speak softly of home and heritage. The curries arrive hearty, often accompanied by fresh, simple sides that balance the heat and round out the plate with texture and zest.
Dali is a space where the kitchen’s rhythm can be savored—the patience to prepare a fresh batch of curry rather than rushing to serve a lesser version signals respect for quality and authenticity. This integrity resonates with guests who travel from across the city, sometimes making a deliberate trip just to experience the comfort of a dish that reminds them of faraway neighborhoods, yet feels convincing and true in its own right.
There is a quiet pride in the kitchen’s craft, evident in the generous portions of tender meat and soft potatoes that transform each bite into something quietly celebratory. The accompanying salads and sides provide a sharp, refreshing counterpoint, rounding out the meal with just the right hint of tang and heat. It’s a place where food and community gently intertwine, and where a contented smile is as common a takeaway as the takeaway itself.
For those who cherish authentic, heartfelt cooking offered in a space where time feels grounded and unforced, Dali Indian Restaurant offers a meaningful stop. It’s a reminder that simple ingredients, met with care and tradition, create moments worth returning to.

The Food Musketeer 03 Jan 2026
Firstly apologies for the not so great pictures, but after being stuck in traffic for more than 2 hours thanks to the rain and traffic I just wanted to heat my food and eat since it got cold and I was starving. On my way, I had called and placed my order. I was told they didn't have Lamb curry but were busy making a fresh batch. I was more than willing to wait that extra time for fresh curry. So we ordered 2 Lamb and 1 Chicken Curry and Roti, and one portion of Soji. The food was done on time, and I managed to make my way out of the storm. Can honestly agree this is definitely proper Durban styled curry. I can only imagine the taste when eating it when served fresh or in a Bunny. Loved the flavour of the curry, the gravy and the potatoes. The soji wasn't bad either. A little bit mushy but it still tasted nice. Will definitely buy again from Dali Restaurant next time I am in the area. I am usually a supporter of another spot nearby but have been dissapointed with my purchases the last few times. So it's taken me a really long time to finally give Dali a try. #TheFoodMusketeer #TheFoodMusketeerEats #TFMDali

I have been hunting for a good bunny chow in Gauteng. I think I found it. Was a bit of a drive for me but it was well worth the fuel. I walked out of there with a contented smile on my face. Thank you for satisfying the craving. Will be back for sure :)

The best bunny I've eaten in Jhb. Great flavour. Packed with lamb and soft potatoes. Accompanied by a fresh carrot salad with the right amount of heat, salt and vinegar. Will definitely be back.

Delightful restaurant that has authentic Durban curry’s. The owner/chef Deva is masterful in his craft. The bunny chow was as good as being in Durban, but instead you’re in Randburg. Highly recommended, you will not regret it. I had the butter bean lamb bunny and it was to die for.

Food is absolutely amazing every time. Proper Durban style curry in Joburg. Meat breaks easily and isn't over cooked. The owner is friendly and visits each table personally. Recommended for a proper Durban chow. Soji hits the spot to end the meal each time.

Ordered deconstructed lamb bunnies, lamb breyani and samp and mutton. Food is absolutely delicious. The food is always neatly packed and presentation is perfect. Owner is very friendly and welcoming. Keep up the good job with that amazing food.
